Â
133 pounds: The first period was a tough battle that featured warnings, an injury timeout and finally an illegal hold that awarded No. 14 Chris Notte his first point. The Oklahoma State junior fired out of the gates in the second period with a reversal in the first 21 seconds. The match came down to the wire with Missouri's Todd Schavrien picking up two escape points in the second and third periods. Notte would fight to hold off Schavrien in the final seconds to pick up his 23rd victory of the season.
Â
141 pounds: After an uneventful first period, Marcus Hoehn escaped a tough grasp from opponent Jamal Parks to establish a 1-0 lead. No. 15 Parks would not remain quiet for long earning his own escape point to start the third period. Three periods would not be enough for wrestlers. Missouri's Hoehn jumped Parks early in the overtime period with a takedown to win in sudden victory, 3-1. Â Â Â Â
Â
149 pounds: Oklahoma State redshirt freshman Luke Silver nearly pinned Andrew Sherry in the first minute of the first period at 149 pounds. Sherry rolled over just in time to avoid the near fall call and limited Silver a two-point takedown. Silver would ride Sherry for the remainder of the period vaulting his riding time to 2:27. Sherry grabbed a quick takedown in the final seconds of the second period to narrow the score to 3-2. Silver started the third period on top, but Sherry reversed the stance to pick up another two points and a 4-3 lead. The crowd rose to its feet as Silver reversed Sherry's hold to reclaim the lead. Sherry, however, would land another reversal and a 6-5 lead to end the period. Silver's 1:08 riding time sent the bout into sudden victory overtime. In overtime, Sherry countered a Silver move to score the winning takedown.
Â
157 pounds: No. 8 Michael Chandler of Missouri had No. 10 Neil Erisman trapped halfway through the first period, but Erisman managed to flip Chandler and roll into a two-point takedown. Chandler escaped soon after to end the period trailing, 2-1. Chandler reversed from the bottom to start the second period. Erisman would escape and quickly take down Chandler. In the period's final seconds, Chandler reversed the stance and earned a nearfall to pick up a 7-5 lead. Chandler's strength would prove too much as his victory tied the dual at 9-9. Â
Â
165 pounds: The bout's first point did not come until the second period when No. 5 Nick Marable escaped from No. 10 Brandon Mason's grasp halfway through the period. Mason would earn his own escape point a little more than a minute into the third period. Marable picked up a takedown in the final seconds to give his Tigers a 12-9 lead.
Â
174 pounds: No. 5 Raymond Jordan began the second period by escaping from No. 14 Newly McSpadden to earn a 1-0 lead. McSpadden made an early escape of his own in the third period to even the score, 1-1. Jordan found two points in his takedown of McSpadden with 1:03 left in the match. Jordan added a riding point to pick up a 4-1 victory against the Cowboy senior.
Â
184 pounds: Oklahoma State sophomore Cody Hill nearly took down Missouri's Dorian Henderson in the last seconds of the first period. He would escape Henderson four seconds later to start the second period. A hard-fought second period transitioned into the third, where Henderson would grab an escape point. Hill battled throughout, but Henderson managed to pin him with just 15 seconds left in the match.
Â
197 pounds: For the second bout in a row, an Oklahoma State wrestler nearly took down the opponent in the final seconds of the first period. No. 4 Max Askren was saved by the whistle as No. 8 Clayton Foster was wrapping up for the takedown. Askren would escape Foster's grasp in the opening seconds and earn a takedown in the final seconds of the second period to claim a 3-0 lead. Foster could not mount a comeback as Askren rode out the third period for a 4-0 victory.
Â
285 pounds: The biggest match of the night was also the final match of the night as former No. 1 and current No. 3 Jared Rosholt battled current No. 1 Mark Ellis of Missouri. Rosholt landed a takedown in the first period to jump out to a 2-0 lead. Ellis ended the second period with edge-of-the-mat takedown of Rosholt. To start the third period, Rosholt escaped Ellis to tie the bout, 3-3. Rosholt nearly took down Ellis with 30 seconds left in the match, but was forced too close to the edge of the mat. In sudden victory overtime, Ellis picked up a takedown to end the bout, 5-3.
