OSU jumped out to a quick lead as Donnie Webb led off the game with a home run, driving a 3-2 offering from Ryan Duke (7-4) over the wall in right field. The homer was Webb's sixth of the season.
The Cowboys were not done. Two batters later, Matt Hague doubled, and Dean Green followed with an RBI single to give OSU a 2-0 lead.
OU (32-23-1, 9-17-1) answered in the bottom of the first. Leadoff hitter Jamie Johnson walked, advanced to second on a wild pitch, stole third and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Aljay Davis to cut the Sooners' deficit in half.
The Sooners took the lead in the third with a pair of two-out RBI hits, tying the score on a double Mike Gosse and going up 3-2 on a single by J.T. Wise that drove OSU starter Matt Gardner from the game.
OU added to its lead over the next two innings, getting a run in the fourth and then rallying for four runs on six hits in the fifth to go up 8-2.
The Cowboys finally got back on the scoreboard in the sixth with a pair of runs. Hague led off the inning with a double, and after Green walked, Ridling delivered an RBI double to make the score 8-3 with runners on second and third and no outs. But OSU managed just one more run in the inning when Green scored on a wild pitch.
Green's run would be the final one of the night for OSU as Chase Anderson shut down the Cowboys over the final four innings. The OU right hander allowed just two hits and struck out three to earn his first save of the season.
Webb, Hague and Ridling collected two hits apiece to lead the OSU offense.
