Cowboys Clinch Bedlam Series With 11-1 Win

OKLAHOMA CITY Â Tyler Lyons tossed his fourth complete game of the season as Oklahoma State clinched the Bedlam series with an 11-1 win over Oklahoma Saturday night at the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in front of a capacity crowd of 13,066 fans.
With the victory, the No. 8 Cowboys improved to 40-14 overall and also moved into second place in the Big 12 Conference standings at 18-8 with their sixth-consecutive league series win. OSU could capture a conference title on Sunday if the Cowboys defeat

Offensively, four different Cowboys collected two RBIs as Neil Medchill, Rebel Ridling, Dean Green and Tom Belza achieved the feat. OSU also had four players  Green, Belza, Tyrone Hambly and Donnie Webb  finish with two hits apiece.
The Cowboys rallied for four runs in the top of the first inning. After Webb and Jordy Mercer reached on errors, Matt Hague delivered a sacrifice bunt and reached safely on a fielder's choice to load the bases.
With the bases juiced, Medchill drove in OSU's first run with an infield single, and Green followed with a single up the middle to plate a pair of runs. OSU went up 4-0 on an RBI walk by Ridling.
OU (31-23-1, 8-17-1) got on the scoreboard in the third, scoring an unearned run when Casey Johnson raced home from third on a wild pitch with the bases loaded to trim the Sooners' deficit to three.
The Cowboys added two more runs in the fourth as Medchill and Ridling both walked with the bases full to put OSU up by a 6-1 count.
In the fifth, OSU pushed its lead to 7-1 on a two-out triple by Webb that scored Luis Flores.
OSU posted its second four-run rally in the eighth, plating its first two runs on a single by Belza and scoring twice on wild pitches by the Sooners.
Andrew Doyle suffered the loss for OU to fall to 7-4. Doyle was one of five Sooner pitchers in the game who combined to surrender a season-high 11 walks.
The Bedlam series finale is Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Bricktown Ballpark.
