Cowboy Golf In Fifth Place At Barona Collegiate Cup

Oklahoma State's men's golf team finished the first day of action at the Barona Collegiate Cup in fifth place after posting a two-round total of 576 at Barona Creek Golf Club.
The Cowboys' even-par total is two shots behind SMU and San Diego State for third place. San Diego is in second place at 572, while Texas A&M took command of the event with a 566 total.
A pair of players are tied for first place as Texas A&M's Andrea Pavan and San Diego State's David Palm are tied at 6-under 138.
Junior Trent Leon paced the Cowboys at 1-under 143 after rounds of 72 and 71 to come in tied for 16th place.
Freshman Rickie Fowler finished the day tied for 19th place at 144 after rounds of 71 and 73, while sophomore Trent Whitekiller checked in 145 with scores of 72 and 73 to finish tied for 21st place.
Freshman Kevin Tway finished play tied for 33rd after consecutive 74s to get to 148, while junior Jon McLean rebounded from an opening 80 with a 70 to move into a tie for 43rd place at 150.
The Cowboys will close out play at the event tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. (PST) and will be paired with Wichita State and San Diego State.
