Baylor Evens Series With 3-0 Win Over Cowboys
March 16, 2008 | Cowboy Baseball
WACO, Texas  Despite a strong pitching performance from Tyler Lyons, Oklahoma State's offense managed just two hits as the Cowboys suffered a 3-0 loss to Baylor Saturday night at the Baylor Ballpark.
The loss dropped the 23rd-ranked Cowboys to 11-4 on the season and evened their series against BU at 1-1. The No. 10 Bears improved to 12-4 overall.
Right hander Shawn Tolleson kept the Cowboys off the scoreboard with a complete-game performance as he improved to 2-0 on the season. The redshirt freshman struck out six and allowed just two singles, with those hits coming off the bats of Michael Dabbs and Dean Green.
Lyons was the tough-luck loser and fell to 2-2 on the season despite a career performance on the mound. The sophomore southpaw tossed the first complete game of his career and racked up a career-best 10 strikeouts. He allowed seven hits in the contest.
Baylor got all the runs it would need in the second. Lyons hit Aaron Miller with a pitch to lead off the frame, and after a single by Adam Hornung, the Bears bunted to move the runners to second and third.
After Lyons recorded the second out of the inning, Landis Ware came up with a clutch hit, a two-RBI single to left field.
OSU's best chance at a rally came in the third. Two hit-by-pitches and a bunt single by Dabbs loaded the bases with just one out, but Rebel Ridling grounded into a double play to end the threat.
The Bears' final run came in the eighth on an RBI double by Ware.
The two teams close out the series with a decisive third game Sunday at 1 p.m.
