TUCSON, Ariz. Â Oklahoma State pitchers Andrew Oliver and Tyler Lyons have been named to the 2009 Louisville Slugger Preseason All-Americans, it was announced today.
Both junior left-handers, Oliver was named to the All-American second team, while Lyons earned third-team honors. The teams were selected by the Collegiate Baseball newspaper staff.
Oliver, a native of Vermilion, Ohio, is coming off a sophomore season in which he went 7-2 in 15 appearances and earned first-team All-Big 12 Conference honors. The 6-foot-3, 211 pounder ranked third in the Big 12 and 16th nationally with a 2.20 ERA and racked up 96 strikeouts in 98.1 innings.
A product of Lubbock, Texas, Lyons was a second-team All-Big 12 pick a year ago. He recorded a 12-2 mark and 3.31 ERA to go along with 92 strikeouts and only 19 walks. In 15 starts, he led the Big 12 with 108.2 innings pitched, and he tied for the league lead with four complete games.
