Cowboy Wrestling Goes 3-1 At Northeast Duals

STILLWATER, Okla. Â The No. 7 Oklahoma State wrestling team competed at the Northeast Duals Saturday at Hudson County Community College in Troy, N.Y., with mixed results. The Cowboys lost their opener to No. 22 Lehigh, 18-13, but bounced back to beat No. 24 Virginia, 33-7, Appalachian State, 41-3 and American University, 34-9.
Individual standouts for the Cowboys were 197-pounder Clayton Foster, who claimed major decision wins over each of his four opponents on the day and heavyweight Jared Rosholt, who secured bonus points in three of his four wins on the day. Both Foster and Rosholt improved their respective season records to 9-0 with their performances Saturday.
Between No. 12 Newly McSpadden and Neil Erisman, the Cowboys went undefeated at 157 pounds, with McSpadden beating Lehigh's Sean Bilodeau, 3-2 and Virginia's Jedd Moore, 6-3 and Erisman claiming a 16-2 major decision win over Appalachian State's Brett Houghton and a 7-2 triumph over American's Patrick Graham.
The most impressive individual win of the day was turned in by 184-pounder Jared Shelton, who not only beat No. 8 Rocco Caponi of Virginia, but humbled him with a 13-2 major decision beating.
