2007: Missed the first 20 games of the season following knee surgery, but returned to start 40 games at shortstop ... was named second-team All-Big 12 as a utility player ... also earned honorable mention status as a shortstop ... hit safely in his first five games after returning from injury, collecting four extra-base hits and driving in six runs ... hit his first career grand slam against Baylor (3/31), a walk-off shot that gave the Cowboys a run-rule win ... hit the go-ahead home run in the series opener vs. Oklahoma (5/4) and a three-run long ball the next day to help fuel the Cowboys' sweep of the Sooners ... was 5-for-11 with two homers and four RBIs in the Bedlam series ... sported a 3-1 record with three saves in 11 appearances on the mound ... picked up his first save of the season with two shutout innings to close out a victory over Nebraska (4/8) ... earned his first win of the season by giving up just one hit over a career-high four innings against Texas A&M (4/22) ... also went 3-for-5 with two RBIs in the game ... picked up the win in the series finale against Oklahoma (5/6) ... hit .400 with four hits in 10 at-bats during the Fayetteville Regional ... had two doubles and scored three times while driving in one run ... pitched two innings and picked up the save in the win over Arkansas (6/3) ... had two hits in four at-bats in Super Regional opener at Louisville (6/8) ... earned the win in relief vs. Louisville in the second game of the Super Regional (6/9) with four innings of scoreless relief ... allowed just two hits and struck out three against the Cardinals ... played for USA Baseball over the summer and was on the team that won a silver medal at the Pan American games in Brazil.
2006: Played in 59 games ... started 54 games at shortstop ... made 12 appearances on the mound, including one start ... was a first-team All-Big 12 selection as a utility player ... named a Freshman All-American by Louisville Slugger ... was 5-0 on the mound with a team-leading five saves ... in first career pitching appearance (3/12), picked up a win against Pepperdine by striking out four in three scoreless innings of relief ... against UTA (3/21), pitched two scoreless, hitless innings for the win and drove in the go-ahead run with a single in the bottom of the eighth ... in the Texas A&M series, he was 6-for-12 with four RBIs and was the winning pitcher in the opener and the finale ... hit the first home run of his career against the Aggies (4/1) ... also drove in the winning run in that game with a ninth-inning single ... first-career save came against Kansas (4/14) ... had four hits in the Bedlam series, including two home runs ... made two relief appearances at the Fayetteville Regional ... earned a save against Arkansas (6/4) as he allowed just one run and struck out three in 2.1 innings.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was an all-state performer at Taloga High School ... hit .500 with four home runs and 38 RBI during the spring of his senior season ... led Taloga to Class B state championship in the spring of 2004 and a runner-up finish during the '05 spring season ... lettered four years in baseball and basketball ... played for coach Colby Nelson in both sports ... was the MVP of the Oklahoma Travelers, who were the Elite World Series champions in the summer of 2005 ... hit .432 with four home runs for the Travelers ... drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 26th round of the 2005 MLB Draft ... also recruited by Baylor, TCU, Missouri, Oral Roberts, Stanford and Wichita State.
