Cowboys Drop Super Regional Opener To Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. Â Oklahoma State fell behind in the first inning and never recovered as the Cowboys dropped a 9-0 decision to Louisville in Friday's NCAA Super Regional game at Jim Patterson Stadium.
With the loss, the Cowboys dropped to 41-20 on the season and must now win two-straight games against UL to advance to next week's College World Series. The two teams will square off again Saturday at 11 a.m. (CST), and if OSU wins that game, a deciding third game will be played Sunday at 3 p.m. (CST).
The Cardinals went up 4-0 in the second on an RBI sacrifice bunt by Chris Cates, which scored Derrick Alfonso from third. Alfonso had tripled earlier in the frame.
The Cardinals, who racked up 13 hits against seven Cowboy pitchers in the game, added a run in the fourth and two runs in both the sixth and ninth innings.
OSU could never get anything going offensively against
The Cowboys managed just six hits on the day and did not get a runner past second base. Jordy Mercer led OSU with a 2-for-4 day at the plate, while Matt Mangini's double in the fourth inning extended his hitting streak to 15 games.
Odle suffered the loss on the mound to fall to 7-5. The senior right hander allowed five runs on six hits in three innings of work.
