Pablo Martin Set To Join Professional Ranks

Oklahoma State junior Pablo Martin has announced he will forgo his final year of eligibility, opting to join the professional ranks. Martin also made it known today he has chosen IMG to handle his global management and marketing representation.
"I am very excited to start my professional career and partner with IMG. The firm's resources and expertise will help me to get settled as a professional and achieve my long-term career goals around the globe,” Martin said.
The Malaga, Spain native will make his professional debut at this week's Stanford St. Jude Championship on the PGA Tour following a highly distinguished amateur career and collegiate campaign at OSU.

This past April, Martin became the first amateur to win on the European Tour when he claimed the Estoril Open de Portugal. The historic victory earned Martin an exemption on the European Tour that will commence when he establishes membership on Tour and will last through the 2009 season. Martin intends to compete both on the European Tour and the PGA Tour, via sponsor exemptions, for the remainder of 2007.
While at OSU, Martin compiled an impressive resumé that saw him named a first-team All-American in 2005 and 2006 as well as the recipient of the Jack Nicklaus and Fred Haskins awards as the national player of the year in 2006.
A two-time Big 12 Player of the Year, Martin was also a finalist for the Ben Hogan Award this past season and was named the Phil Mickelson Award winner in 2005 as the nation's top freshman.
Martin claimed five collegiate victories during his career, including this season's Big 12 Championship, and helped lead the Cowboys to their 10th national championship in 2006 in Sunriver, Ore.
“Pablo has been a wonderful representative for our university and a great ambassador. I look forward to following his professional career and will always be a big Pablo Martin fan,” Cowboy head coach Mike McGraw said.
Martin also enjoyed a distinguished amateur career in Europe and the United States. His amateur victories include the 2005 Porter Cup, the 2004 Carris Trophy, the Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championship in 2003, the European Under-16 Championship in 2002 and the British Boys Amateur Championship in 2001.
Martin has also competed on the 2005 and 2006 European Palmer Cup teams as well as the 2002 and 2006 Eisenhower Trophy teams.
