Mach, Brown Named To All-America Teams
June 18, 2007 | Cowboy Baseball
STILLWATER, Okla. Â Oklahoma State baseball stars Tyler Mach and Corey Brown each capped successful 2007 seasons by recently being named to several All-America teams.
Mach, a senior second baseman, was named a second-team All-American by both the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and the American Baseball Coaches Association. He earned third-team status from Louisville Slugger and Baseball America.
Also an All-American for OSU in 2006, Mach started every game at second base for the Cowboys in his final collegiate season. A fourth-round draft pick by the Philadelphia Phillies earlier this month, Mach hit .386 with 16 home runs and a team-high 81 RBIs. He also led OSU in hits (100), doubles (24) and total bases (174).
Brown has spent three years in a Cowboy uniform, and his junior season was the best yet for the OSU right fielder. The Tampa, Fla., native earned second-team All-American status from three different outlets as the NCBWA, ABCA and Baseball America each tabbed him for that honor.
A supplemental first-round draft pick by the Oakland Athletics and also a two-time All-American, Brown finished the '07 season ranked in the top three in the Big 12 Conference in eight different offensive categories. He started every game for the Cowboys and hit .335 with 22 homers and 71 RBIs. He led the team in homers, triples (5), stolen bases (23), walks (66), runs (82), on-base percentage (.493) and slugging percentage (.736).
