Cowboys? Season Ends With Super Regional Loss To Louisville
June 11, 2007 | Cowboy Baseball
OSU was seeking its 20th trip to the College World Series, but its season ended with the Cowboys sporting a 42-21 record. The 42 wins is the most ever for OSU in four seasons under head coach Frank Anderson.
The Cardinals jumped on OSU starter Joe Kent early and often, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning before rallying for five runs in the second frame. The big blow in the second inning came on a two-run home run by Pete Rodriguez, who finished 4-for-4 with three RBIs in the game.
OSU scored its lone runs on a pair of home runs. Ty Wright hit his eighth round tripper of the season in the third to make the score 6-1, and Rebel Ridling's 14th homer of the season came in the fourth and also trimmed the Cowboys' deficit to five.
But UL scored five runs in the fourth inning and four in the fifth frame to take control of the game. The Cardinals also had a four-run inning in the eighth.
