Cowboys Headed Back To Arkansas For NCAA Regional Play

The Cowboys are 38-19 on the season and finished third in the Big 12 Conference standings. OSU is making its second-straight NCAA Regional appearance in Fayetteville and is the third seed in the tourney. The Cowboys were the No. 1 seed in Fayetteville in 2006. The Cowboys are also making their third NCAA Tournament appearance in four seasons under head coach Frank Anderson, who has led OSU to a 3-4 record in NCAA tourney play.
OSU is hitting .327 as a team, and seven Cowboy regulars are hitting .300 or better. The Cowboy pitching staff has a collective 4.09 ERA and has racked up 446 strikeouts and just 150 walks.
The Fayetteville Regional Field
Arkansas is the Fayetteville Regional's host and top seed. The Razorbacks are also the No. 7 national seed. Creighton is the tourney's second seed, while Albany is the fourth-seeded team.
OSU has not faced any of the teams in the Fayetteville Regional field in 2007. The Cowboys are 42-19 all-time against Arkansas, 7-4 all-time against Creighton and have never faced Albany.
OSU In The NCAA Tournament
OSU is making its 35th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, which ranks fifth on the NCAA's all-time list. The Cowboys are 88-39 (.693) all-time in NCAA Regional play, and the 88 wins also ranks fifth all-time. The Cowboys' 19 College World Series appearances are tied for the fourth most in NCAA history.
Counting Regional, Super Regional and CWS games, OSU is 127-75 (.629) in NCAA Tournament play.

Rex Holt, who is in his 25th season as the play-by-play voice of Cowboy baseball, will call the action, with Matt Davis providing color commentary. All of the Fayetteville Regional games will also be televised live by CSTV, with Tom Hart and Carter Blackburn sharing play-by-play duties and Kevin Stocker handling color commentary.
About Arkansas
The Razorbacks are 41-19 on the season and earned the regional's top seed. Coach Dave Van Horn's club is also the No. 7 national seed.

About Creighton
The Blue Jays are the second seed in Fayetteville and bring a 44-14 record into the tourney. Creighton was 19-5 in the Missouri Valley Conference in 2007.

About Albany
The Great Danes earned an NCAA bid by winning the America East Conference Tournament. They are 29-27 on the season.

Aluminum Assault
Frank Anderson called his 2006 squad the best offensive team he's had since arriving in Stillwater, but the Cowboys might be even better in 2007.
In '06, OSU led the Big 12 in extra base hits, including topping the conference in home runs, triples and slugging percentage. OSU also ranked second in team batting average (.316) and runs (443), and seven different Cowboys batted at least .300.
The Cowboys are continuing that type of production at the plate in 2007. OSU leads the Big 12 Conference in batting average (.327), slugging percentage (.526), on-base percentage (.408), runs (452), hits (664), doubles (135) and home runs (76).
Five Cowboys — Ty Wright, Tyler Mach, Keanon Simon, Corey Brown and Matt Mangini and — are among the top 20 hitters in the Big 12, with Wright's .417 average leading the league and Mach's .410 average ranking second.
OSU is averaging 7.9 runs and 11.6 hits per contest in '07, both of which lead the Big 12. The Cowboys have had at least 10 hits in 36 games this season, with a season high of 25 vs. ASU.
