Mach, Brown Named Golden Spikes Award Semifinalists

DURHAM, N.C. — Oklahoma State's Tyler Mach and Corey Brown are two of 50 semifinalists for the 2007 USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award, it was announced by USA Baseball on Tuesday.
Mach, a senior second baseman, is hitting .408 with 10 home runs and 53 RBIs this season, while Brown, a junior right fielder, sports a .358 batting average and leads the Cowboys with 17 homers and 57 RBIs.
OSU is one of just nine schools to have multiple players on the list of 2007 semifinalists.
The Cowboys have had one Golden Spikes Award winner in their history, with Robin Ventura earning the honor in 1988.
The Golden Spikes Award will be presented to the nation's premier amateur baseball player for the 30th time in 2007. This year's winner will be announced on June 29 during the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Show presented by Major League Baseball.
