Cowboy Golfers Faring Well At European Tour Event

A pair of players with Oklahoma State ties positioned themselves at the top of the leaderboard on Saturday at the European PGA Tour's Estoril Open de Portugal being held at the Quinta de Marinha Golf Club.
Former Cowboy Alex Norén fired his second consecutive 3-under 68 to grab the individual lead with a 54-hole total of 207. The Stockholm, Sweden native's 6-under score moved him from a tie for third place into sole possession of the lead and one shot ahead of Ross McGowan.
Norén competed for OSU from 2002-05, earning third-team All-America honors in 2005 and honorable mention plaudits in 2004.
Standing in a two-way tie for third place at 209 is Cowboy junior Pablo Martin. The Malaga, Spain native turned at even par before blistering the par-71, 6,983-yard layout's back nine with a 5-under 29 for a round of 66 to move up 20 spots into a tie with Graeme Storm .
The 2006 collegiate player of the year, Martin made the cut earlier this year at the PGA Tour's Mayakoba Golf Classic, finishing 63rd. He competed in the European Tour's Madeira Islands Open last week, tying for 83rd place.
Norén and Martin will tee off in tomorrow's final group and will be paired with McGowan.
