Cowboys Win Finale, Claim Series Win Over Kansas

Oklahoma State claimed a win in its first Big 12 Conference series of the season with a 7-3 triumph over Kansas in the deciding finale Sunday at Hoglund Ballpark.
The victory gave OSU its seventh-straight Big 12 series win. The Cowboys won six conference series in a row to end the 2006 season.
With the win, the 14th-ranked Cowboys also improved to 19-6 overall and 2-1 in the league.
Freshman southpaw Andrew Oliver picked up the win as he improved to 5-0. He allowed two runs on just three hits and struck out five in 5.2 innings of work.
Four Cowboys – Ty Wright, Corey Brown, Rebel Ridling and Jordy Mercer – each collected two hits in the win. Keanon Simon also extended his hitting streak to 10 games.
As it did in the series opener, OSU got on the scoreboard in the first inning. Simon led off the game with a single, and after Wright's sacrifice bunt, Corey Brown delivered an RBI single for the Cowboys' first run.
OSU increased its lead in the top of the second. Ridling led off the frame with a double and later scored on an error. The Cowboys made it 3-0 on an RBI single by Wright.
The Jayhawks trimmed their deficit in the bottom of the second on a solo home run by Erik Morrison, and they added another run when Robby Price scored on a balk in the fourth to make the score 3-2.
The fifth would prove to be the pivotal inning as the Cowboys rallied for three runs.
Wright led off the frame with a bunt single, and Corey Brown followed with a double. Mach then provided the big blow with a three-run homer over the left-center field wall to give OSU a 6-2 advantage.
The Cowboys' seventh run came in the seventh on a two-out RBI single by Ridling.
OSU will return to action Friday when they open their second Big 12 Conference series of the season against Baylor in
