Cowboys Drop Opener Against Hartford

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State was held to seven hits by Hartford's Weston Szymanski as the Cowboys dropped an 8-4 decision to the Hawks on Friday night at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.

Perry and Price each drove in runs with singles in the fifth, and Ryan Crowley provided the big blow with a two-RBI single that made the score 7-1.
OSU trimmed its deficit with a run in the fifth on an RBI groundout by Brown, and in the sixth, Ryan Pittman's first-career home run, a two-run shot, made the score 7-4.
The Cowboys would not score again, however, as Szymanski tossed a complete game to improve to 1-1 on the season.
OSU used seven pitchers in the contest, with starter Martin Beno suffering the loss. The junior right hander allowed three runs on five hits in 3.1 innings of work.
Pittman led the Cowboys with a 2-for-5, two-RBI night, while Brown also had two RBIs and extended his hitting streak to nine games.
The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
