Cowboy Track Teams Kicks Off Indoor Season in Fayetteville

Cowboy freshman Sean Fleming made the most of his NCAA debut in the one mile run, finishing first with a time of 4:13.94 in the event. Three other Cowboys finished in the top-10. Redshirt freshman Daniel Watts, senior Joseph Gray and junior David Jankowski finished eighth, ninth, and 10th in the event, respectively.
Also in the one mile run, sophomore Matt Barnes-Smith finished 13th with a time of 4:22.30 and senior Michael Breshears, a transfer from Missouri State, finished 20th with a time of 4:30.13.
In the 3,000-meter run, redshirt freshman Marshall Summa finished 13th to lead the Pokes. The
Cowboy senior Terry Josserand, one of four Cowboys to qualify for the NCAA Championships last spring, finished with a time of 48.58 in the 400-meter dash.
Cowboy senior Ryan Ripley led the way for the Cowboys in the 800-meter run. The
“It was a good meet for us,” said Cowboy head track coach Dick Weis. “We had some young guys run extremely well and, overall, it was a good eye-opener meet for them.”
