Pablo Martin To Compete At World Amateur Team Championship

A two-time first-team All-American, Martin was named the national player of the year after helping the Cowboys to their 10th NCAA title last season. With four career victories to his credit, the Malaga, Spain native enters the 2006-07 season as the nation's top-ranked player.
Internationally, Martin has competed for the European squad the last two years at the Palmer Cup and helped Spain to a third-place finish at the 2004 Toyota Junior World Cup.
The addition of Martin to the field brings the number of players with OSU ties in the event to four, as sophomore Jonathan Moore and former Cowboy Trip Kuehne will compete for the U.S. men's squad and Cowgirl head coach Laura Matthews will play for the Canadian women's team.
The 2006 World Amateur Team Championships will be played at De Zalze Golf Club and Stellenbosch Golf Club.
Both championships are conducted over 72 holes of stroke play for teams of three players. Two rounds are played on each course with the two lowest scores to count in each round. The team with the lowest combined score wins.
The women's competition will be played Oct. 18-21, followed by the men's event on Oct. 26-29.
