Four Cowboys Advance To Match Play At U.S. Amateur

Junior Pablo Martin produced a top-10 showing, tying for fifth place after carding a 1-under 70 at the Chaska Town Course. The Malaga, Spain native finished with a 1-under 142 total to come in four strokes behind medalist Billy Horschel. Martin is seeded No. 11 in the match play tree and will take on South Africa's Tyrone Mordt tomorrow.
A trio of OSU products charged up the leaderboard during their second rounds and advanced as well.
Entering the day tied for 86th after an opening round of 75, senior Ryan Posey moved inside the cut line with a 1-under 70 at the Town Course to finish tied for 25th place with a 2-over 145. Fueled by a bogey-free back nine, Posey moved into the match play bracket as the No. 29 seed and will face Ben Fox of Studio City, Calif., tomorrow.
Former Cowboy Trip Kuehne and sophomore Jonathan Moore also made major moves during their second rounds to move on. Kuehne started the day tied for 114th place after a 76 before posting a 68 at the Town Course to finish tied for 18th. The 20th seed, Kuehne's first-round opponent will be Chris Rogers of Franklin, Tenn.
Moore was also in the group tied for 86th after his 75 on Monday, but the 2006 NCAA champion fired a 1-under 70 during his second round to finish tied for 25th place. Moore, the No. 30 seed, will square off against Skip Berkmeyer of St. Louis, Mo., in the first round.
Former Cowboy Zack Robinson carded rounds of 72 and 78 to finish tied for 108th, while OSU assistant coach Alan Bratton posted a 10-over total to finish tied for 177th.
