Cowboys? Winning Streak Snapped By Oral Roberts

The Cowboys left nine runners stranded on the base paths in the contest as they dropped to 18-8 on the season. ORU improved to 14-12 with the win.
ORU took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning against OSU starter Rick Rivas, who made his season debut on the mound. Chad Rothford led off with a single, and following a double by Travis DeBondt, the Golden Eagles got on the scoreboard on an RBI groundout by Brian Aguailar.
The Golden Eagles added to their lead in the third as of a pair of OSU errors led to three unearned runs.
Jake Kahaulelio reached on an error by OSU second baseman Shelby Ford, and a walk followed by an error by third baseman Tyler Mach loaded the bases. Chad Rothford followed with an RBI single to make the score 2-0. DeBondt drove in a run on a groundout, and the Golden Eagles added their fourth run on an RBI single by Carter McQuigg.
OSU ended its scoring drought with a solo home run by Deik Scram in the top of the fifth. Scram's second homer of the season made the score 4-1.
The Cowboys fell behind 5-1 on Andy Bouchie's home run in the fifth, but coach Frank Anderson's ballclub answered with a run in the top of the sixth as designated hitter John Schindler's single scored Keanon Simon to trim OSU's deficit back to three.
But that was the end of the scoring as OSU left seven runners on base in the final four innings.
Rivas suffered the loss despite allowing just one earned run. The Cowboys' senior right hander, who missed the first two months of the season due to injury, allowed four total runs on five hits. He lasted three innings and recorded one strikeout and a walk.
Corey Brown led the OSU offense as he came on in the seventh inning as a pinch hitter and finished the contest 2-for-2. Tyler Mach was 1-for-3 to extend his hitting streak to 14 games.
Chris Ashman (4-1) picked up the win for ORU, allowing just two earned runs on five hits in seven innings of work. Sean Jarrett garnered his first save with two scoreless innings in relief.
OSU returns to Big 12 action this weekend when the Cowboys travel to Waco, Texas to take on Baylor. Friday's opener is set for a 7 p.m. start.
