About San Diego State
The Aztecs are nine games under .500 after having dropped eight of their last 10 games, including five in a row. However, of SDSU's six wins, four of them were against ranked teams, including two over Pepperdine. The Aztecs have finished with a winning record just once in three seasons under coach Tony Gwynn, who took over the head coaching duties at his alma mater after the 2002 season.
As A Matter Of Fact: Tony Gwynn was a two-sport star in baseball and basketball at SDSU and was drafted by both Major League Baseball (San Diego Padres, third round) and the NBA (San Diego Clippers, 10th round). He chose baseball, and in 20 seasons with the Padres hit .338 with 3,141 hits and was a 15-time All-Star selection.
Players To Watch
Quintin Berry, OF - Baseball America tabbed Berry as the Mountain West Conference Player of the Year in the preseason. He is hitting .294 and leads the club with 13 stolen bases in 16 attempts. Berry is second on the Aztecs in hits (25) and third in RBIs (13).
Paul Smyth, OF - Smyth transferred to SDSU from New Orleans for his final collegiate season and leads the team with a .383 batting average and 31 hits. He also tops the Aztecs with three homers and 15 RBIs.
Tim O'Brien, 1B - This powerful first baseman is tied for the team lead with three home runs and owns a .350 batting average.

Aluminum Assault
Frank Anderson has called his 2006 squad the best offensive team he's had since arriving in Stillwater in 2004, and the Cowboys are proving their head coach prophetic.
OSU ranks third the Big 12 Conference with a .336 batting average and has three players  Corey Brown, Shelby Ford and Deik Scram  who rank in the top 10 in the league in batting average.
The Cowboys have scored 125 runs in 14 games and have collected 177 hits  averages of 8.9 runs and 12.6 hits per game. The Cowboys have scored 10 or more runs seven times and have had seven games where they racked up at least 16 hits, including two contests in which they topped the 20-hit mark.
Seven Cowboy regulars are hitting over .300, with three of those topping the .400 mark.
Take Note: OSU is outscoring its opponents 78-25 in the first four innings of games.
