Kansas Defeats Oklahoma State 17-3

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Kansas pounded out 20 hits and used a dominant relief outing by Kodiak Quick to beat Oklahoma State 17-3 Saturday afternoon at Hoglund Ballpark.
The game was the continuation of last night's suspended contest that was called in the fourth with the Jayhawks leading 6-3.
Kansas improved to 35-25 overall and 10-14 in Big 12 play, while Oklahoma State fell to 32-22 and 11-14 in conference action.
KU scored 11 runs in the continuation and scored in every inning of the game. Quick came on in relief of Sean Land in the fourth and allowed just one hit in six innings of scoreless relief to improve to 10-5 on the year.
The Jayhawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first when Sean Richardson doubled to left-center with the bases loaded.
Gus Milner's two out two run single in the second extended the lead to 5-0.
Corey Brown got the Pokes on the board in the third on a RBI double to center that scored Ty Wright who reached on a walk. Adam Carr then roped his 18th homer of the year to left to cut the advantage to 5-3.
The Jayhawks scored another run in the third to knock Thomas Cowley out of the game in his shortest start of the season. He allowed six runs on seven hits in 2.2 innings of work with two strikeouts, two walks and two hit by pitches.
The teams will play the originally scheduled contest today at 6 p.m.
