Cowboy Golf Finishes Second At Morris Williams Intercollegiate
April 06, 2005 | Cowboy Golf
The No.1-ranked Cowboys made up three strokes during the round on tournament champion Florida, but could not gain enough ground to mount a serious charge as the Gators strolled to a 10-shot victory. OSU finished with a 54-hole score of 882, 18-over, to end play four strokes ahead of Tulsa.
Junior Zack Robinson extended his string of top-10 finishes to four after posting a closing 74 to come in at 2-over 218 and tied for third and match his best career finish previously set at the 2003 Puerto Rico Classic. The Ft. Worth, Texas native's total was six behind that of Florida's Richard Treis, who carded a 72 on his way to a five-shot victory.
Senior Alex Norén wrapped up the event with a 76 to finish tied for 11th at 222 in a group that included fellow senior Dayton Rose, who competed as an individual and carded a final-round 75.
Sophomore Tyler Leon fired his low round of the tournament with a 1-over 73 to finish tied for 19th with freshman Pablo Martin and two other players at 223. Martin recorded his second 76 of the event to get to his final number.
Sophomore Ryan Posey tied for 37th at 12-over 228 after a 78 on Tuesday, while junior Chris Clarke competed individually, tying for 61st place at 235 after a round of 81.
The Cowboys will return to action on April 16 when they travel to College Station, Texas to compete in the Texas A&M Collegiate.
