David Maroul led off the ninth with a homer to left to give the Longhorns a 9-8 lead. UT added two more when Nick Peoples walked and Drew Stubbs homered to right. Shortstop Seth Johnston then closed out the barrage with another homer to right.
The Cowboys did not go down easily in the bottom of the ninth, rallying to load the bases with one out on three consecutive hits by , and Ty Wright. then lined out to first baseman Chance Wheeless who doubled up Wright at first to end the game.
Texas improved to 35-6 overall and 11-5 in Big 12 play, while Oklahoma State fell to 28-16 and 8-9 in league action.
J. Brent Cox blanked the Cowboys in the eighth and ninth to pick up the win and move to 6-1 on the year.
(3-3) pitched 2.2 innings and allowed the four runs in the ninth on five hits with a walk and two strikeouts in the losing effort.
