The Huskers used the long ball in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead. Daniel Bruce had a solo shot and after Thomas Cowley hit Alex Gordon, Brandon Fusilier hit a two-run shot to right-center, his ninth of the year.
Chris Gutierrez' two-run triple cut the lead to 3-2 in the fifth. Corey Brown walked to lead off the inning, advanced to second on a groundout by Adam Carr and moved to third on an infield single by Steve Ptak. Gutierrez would later score on a RBI groundout by Justin Colbert to tie the game at 3-3.
Third baseman Alex Gordon put
Corey Brown tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth with a RBI double down the right field line that scored Ty Wright who reached on a single off of Husker starter Joba Chamberlain.
Cowley walked Brandon Buckman to lead off the bottom of the sixth, before Ledbetter blasted his eighth homer of the year over the right-centerfield wall.
The Huskers took advantage of two Cowboy errors in the seventh to score two unearned runs and extend the lead to 8-4.
