March 02, 2005 | Cowboy Golf
The showing was the sixth top-five finish in as many outings this year for the Cowboys, who had won back-to-back tournaments coming into the event. OSU's 54-hole total of 850, 14-under, came in five shots off the pace of tournament champion Georgia Tech and one stroke behind runner-up Florida.
Arizona State's Alejandro Canizares tallied a 4-under 68 to claim individual medalist honors with a 204 total.
Cowboy freshman Pablo Martin earned the third top-five finish of his brief collegiate career, moving up from a tie for seventh into a deadlock for fourth with a 210 total after firing a 70 on Tuesday. With the 6-under total, the Malaga, Spain native has broken par in all five of the squad's stroke-play events this season.
Junior Zack Robinson wrapped up his first start of the spring with a top 10 of his own. The Ft. Worth, Texas native's 73 dropped him from a tie for fourth into a tie for eighth place at 212.
Sophomore Tyler Leon slipped one spot into a tie for 15th place with a 2-under 214 total after a 71, while senior Alex Norén jumped 11 spots into a tie for 26th after putting a 71 of his own on the board to finish with a 218 score.
Sophomore Ryan Posey rounded out the OSU lineup with a 74, giving him a three-day total of 221 and a tie for 35th.
The Cowboys will return to action on March 11 when they travel to Las Vegas for the Southern Highlands Collegiate.
