Oklahoma State opens its 91st season of baseball this Friday at 4 p.m. as Arkansas-Pine Bluff visits Stillwater for a three-game series. The Cowboys and Golden Lions will play at 2 p.m. on Saturday, before concluding the set with a 1 p.m. tilt on Sunday. Friday's contest is free, while regular ticket prices will apply for the rest of the weekend.
About Arkansas-Pine Bluff
Arkansas-Pine Bluff is also opening its 2005 campaign this weekend and looks to improve upon last season's fourth place finish in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Western Division. The Golden Lions went 18-29-1 overall and posted a 15-16 ledger in league play. Senior outfielder Earl White led the team with a .318 batting average with three homers, seven triples and 24 RBIs. Senior infielder Mark Lewis was the top base threat, with 27 stolen bases in 33 attempts. UAPB hit .293 as a team and averaged just under six runs a game. Senior righthander Kenneth Kendricks is the top returning pitcher for Pine Bluff, finishing with a 3-6 record and 8.05 ERA in 2004. The Golden Lions as a team had a 8.38 ERA with 169 strikeouts and 237 walks in 356.2 innings. Series Notes: Oklahoma State leads the series 3-0, with the team's last meeting in 1999. The Cowboys have outscored the Golden Lions 50-9 in the three games.
Season/Home Openers
Oklahoma State is 46-19-1 all-time in season openers and 53-13 in home openers. The Cowboys lost their season/home opener to Eastern Michigan last year, 5-3. Prior to that loss OSU had won 18 of its last 19 openers at Reynolds Stadium dating back to the 1984 season. The Pokes will look to snap a two-game losing skein in season openers after also falling to South Florida, 4-3, in 2003.
OSU Picked To Finish Third In Big 12
Oklahoma State was picked to finish third in the Big 12 by the league coaches in a vote released by the conference office Wednesday morning.
Defending Big 12 champion Texas was picked to finish first, receiving nine of the 10 conference schools vote. Oklahoma State received the other first place vote.
Each coach ranked the conference 1-9 and was not allowed to vote for their own team.

Broadcast Info
Every Oklahoma State game will be broadcast this season on the KSPI network of stations. Rex Holt, will once again call all of the action for the Cowboys. This year, veteran broadcaster Tom Dirato will provide game analysis upon completion of the men's basketball season.
The games can be heard on the KSPI family of stations with this weekend's broadcasts set for 93.7 FM on Friday and Sunday and 780 AM on Saturday.
Cowboy Notes
Oklahoma State has 22 newcomers and 13 returners from last year's team ... of the returnees, nine saw action last season ... OSU is 16-0 all-time against teams from the SWAC ... Friday's opener is OSU's earliest at home since facing Missouri Southern on Feb. 2, 1997.

Fans can listen to coach Frank Anderson on his weekly radio show every Monday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on 93.7 KSPI FM. The show starts on Feb. 14 and is be co-hosted by Rex Holt.
Coach Anderson's weekly television show will begin in March on a date to be determined. The show, co-hosted by Tom Dirato, features highlights, analysis and feature stories with the Cowboy baseball team.
