ARLINGTON, Texas  Three Texas-Arlington pitchers combined to hurl a five-hit shutout to defeat Oklahoma State 1-0 in baseball action Tuesday night at Clay Gould Ballpark.
UTA improved to 22-14 with the win, while OSU was shutout for the first time the season and fell to 21-13.
Grant Varnell (3-3) started the game and held the Pokes to four hits in six innings of work and was followed by Blake Pierson who threw two-innings of one-hit ball. Mike Snapp closed it out with a perfect ninth to record his seventh save of the year.
UTA took a 1-0 lead in the sixth on a one-out bases loaded RBI groundout by designated hitter Daniel Macha to first base off of Cowboy starter Daniel Rew.
Rew (4-4) took the tough luck loss, allowing the one run on seven hits in seven innings of work with a walk and six strikeouts./
The Cowboys will be back in Big 12 action at home this weekend as
