Cowboys Fall to Gophers, 17-16

The Cowboys fell to 17-2 while the Gophers improved to 12-6 on the year.
Jake Rosholt began the dual with a 2-1 decision over Josh McLay, to give OSU an early 3-0 lead before Minnesota took a one-point advantage after Damion Hahn record a major decision over Rusty Blackmon.
The Gophers extended their lead to 8-3 with Cole Konrad's 10-0 major decision over Will Gruenwald. UM won its third straight match to take an 11-3 lead with Bobby Lowe's decision over Cody Stites.
Johnny Thompson won his final home match with decision over Andrew Domingues. Thompson scored a trio of takedowns en route to an 8-2 victory to cut the Minnesota lead to 11-6 heading into intermission.
UM captured its fourth match to extend its lead to 14-6 with Tommy Owen's 6-4 decision over Ronnie Delk.
With Zack Esposito's 17-6 major decision, the Cowboys cut into the Gopher lead to make the team score 14-10. Esposito scored seven takedowns to clinch the major for OSU. The Cowboys cut further into the Gopher lead with Johnny Hendricks' decision over Matt Nagel.
Hendricks scored the first takedown to take a 2-1 lead heading into the second period. He then built on his lead with an escape to open the second period. Nagel cut the lead within one with an escpae of his own, but couldn't hang on as Hendricks recorded another takedown to seal the victory, 5-3.
UM recorded an upset at 165 pounds when Jacob Volkman scored a takedown with seconds remaining to take the 3-1 victory over Tyrone Lewis, to take a 17-13 advantage.
OSU closed out the dual with Chris Pendleton's 13-8 decision over Jon Duncombe.
The Cowboys dropped their second dual of the season and its first home loss since Minnesota in 2001.
OSU returns to action March 6 when they compete in the Big 12 Championships in Ames, Iowa.
