Madsen is battling through injury and could challenge for time on the mound when healthy.
2002-03: Played two years at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas ... went 3-3 with a 2.61 ERA in his freshman season ... recorded 86 strikeouts in 79 innings pitched with a save ... selected to play in the Texas Junior College All-Star game in the fall of 2002 ... was a 35th round selection of the Colorado Rockies in June of 2002 ... played for the Liberal Blue Jays in the summer of 2002 and helped lead the team to a seventh place finish in the NBC World Series, going 3-0 with nine saves ... also considered Arizona, Louisiana-Lafayette and Missouri.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a pitcher/third baseman at Hutto High ... a two-time first team all-state and all-area selection ... participated in the 2000 Central Texas All-Star Game ... lettered all four years of high school ... went 5-2 in 1997, 13-2 in 1998, 11-1 in 1999 and 6-4 in 2000.
PERSONAL: An economics major ... son of Robert and Becky Madsen ...born May 31, 1982 ... has one brother, Bryan ... plays golf in his spare time ... favorite athlete is Roger Clemens ... chose OSU because it allows him to compete in the Big 12 and gives him a chance to play in Omaha.
