2002-03: Played last season at Gloucester Community College in New Jersey .... went 5-2 on the mound ... was a 40th round selection of the Cincinnati Reds in 2003 ... redshirted the 2001-02 school year after transferring from Grayson Community College ... played summer ball for the South Jersey Starz and went 11-0 in two seasons ... also considered Stetson, Xavier, Arizona and Louisiana-Lafayette among other schools.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a first-team all-state selection as a junior and senior at Cherokee High ... a three-year letterwinner as a pitcher and shortstop ... went 5-3 as a senior, 8-1 as a junior and 8-0 as a senior ... was a 21st round pick by the Florida Marlins in the 2001 draft ... also played basketball.
PERSONAL: An education/English major ... son of Mike and Cindy Mason ... born December 3, 1982 ... has a sister, Kristen, and a brother Joshua ... favorite athlete is Pedro Martinez ... favorite pro sports teams are the New York Yankees AND Boston Red Sox ... chose Oklahoma State because he thought it would be the best place to get the most exposure for professional baseball.
