Cowboys Down Seventh-ranked Minnesota 28-10
December 05, 2004 | Cowboy Wrestling
Minnesota went up 7-0 when Bobbe Lowe recorded a major decision over OSU's Derrick Fleenor, and Mack Reiter scored five quick points in the third period to defeat Daniel Frishkorn, 7-5.
Ronnie Delk helped the Cowboys regain the momentum. Delk defeated Minnesota's Quincy Osborn with a decisive 8-1 victory.
Oklahoma State scored 19 points over the next four matches to take control of the dual. Zack Esposito had a tech fall over the Gophers' Danny Williams. Kevin Ward followed that up with a first period fall over Nik Lentz.
Johny Hendricks defeated No. 11 Matt Nagel in a sudden victory period. Chris Pendleton received four near fall counts against Jon Duncombe en route to receiving a 16-0 technical fall.
Top ranked Steve Mocco squared off with second-ranked cole Konrad in the most highly anticipated matchup of the dual. Similar to the All-Star match, neither wrestler scored an offensive point and the match went to sudden victory with the score tied at one. Mocco made the first move in overtime and used a foot sweep to take down Konrad and win the match.
Oklahoma State will return to the mat when they face No. 10 Oklahoma next Sunday, Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. inside the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Okla.
