Cowboy Duo Wraps Up Play At All-America Golf Classic

Norén, a senior from Stockholm, Sweden, opened the tournament with rounds of 68 and 67 before a 1-under 70 to close with an 8-under total of 205 to come in one shot behind Texas' Matthew Rosenfeld and Georgia Tech's Nicholas Thompson. Thompson defeated Rosenfeld on the first playoff hole to claim medalist honors.
Leon, a sophomore from Dallas, Texas, opened with back-to-back 71s before a 3-under during his final round to move from a tie for 16th into a two-way deadlock for eighth at 210, 3-under.
The event, which is comprised of players who earned All-America status the previous season, has been contested since 1974 with OSU being represented on 20 occasions by 13 different players. However, this is the first year a Cowboy has competed since Edward Loar took part in the tournament in 1998.
The lone OSU participant to win the tournament was Willie Wood in 1981.
On Sunday, Leon won the Titleist Long Drive Contest, while Norén lost the Ping Putting Contest in a playoff. Leon launched a 327-yard drive into a 15-mph head wind to claim the top spot, while Norén carded a 3-under 33 during the nine-hole putting event before falling to Washington's Erik Olson on the third playoff hole.
