Cowboys Cruise Past Cal Poly, 35-6

Zack Esposito, Tyrone Lewis and Chris Pendleton all recorded falls for the Cowboys. Esposito earned his 15th win on the season with his 2:00 pin against #17 Matt Cox. Second-ranked Tyrone Lewis needed only 45 seconds to flatten Erick Shortenhaus, while top-ranked Chris Pendleton pinned Sam Temko in 1:22.
At 133 pounds, the Cowboys' sixth-ranked Johnny Thompson avenged his loss in the Reno Tournament to fourth-ranked Darrell Vasquez with a 5-3 victory. The two were tied at 3-3 at the end of regulation. Thompson used a double leg in sudden victory to notch the victory.
Cal Poly's sixth-ranked Ryan Halsey knocked off top-ranked Jake Rosholt, 6-2, to give the Mustangs their second win of the night. Rosholt had a 2-1 lead heading into the third period, but Halsey quickly tied it with an escape. He then proceeded to score a takedown and a pair of back points to record the upset.
Kevin Ward and No. 20 Rusty Blackmon each notched major decisions for OSU. Ward dropped Keith Kroeger, 19-8, while Blackmon scored an 8-0 major against Ralph Garcia. Ronnie Delk and ninth-ranked Will Gruenwald recorded decisions for the Cowboys. Delk squeezed passed Steve Esparza, 3-2, while Gruenwald defeated Arturo Basulto, 7-3.
The Cowboys return to action for their second dual of the night against Fresno State at 7 p.m. in Gallagher-Iba.
