UT improved their record to 39-16 and will advance in the winners bracket, while OSU dropped to the losers bracket with an overall record of 34-23.
Jesen Merle picked up the win in relief to up his record to 3-2.
Scott Baker worked 7.2 innings and recorded career highs with 10 earned runs and 14 hits in taking the loss and falling to 10-5 on the season.
OSU evened the game at two in the top of the second on an RBI groundout by Gutierrez and Lyndsey Simmons followed with a two-out RBI single.
UT reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by Tim Moss.
Scott Kirby knotted the game at three in the top of the fourth for the Pokes with an RBI single that scored Mario Matulich.
The Cowboys responded in the fifth with three runs of their own to cut the deficit to two. Kirby came through with a bases loaded single up the middle that scored two runs. Kenny Hansley followed with an RBI groundout to make it an 8-6 game.
Taylor Teagarden scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth to give the Longhorns a three run lead.
Kirby kept the Pokes in the game with his fourth hit that scored Jaramillo from second to make it a 9-7 game in the seventh.
