Oklahoma State's Cowboy golf team will remain at home next week to compete in the 2003 NCAA Golf Championship at Karsten Creek Golf Course. Practice rounds are scheduled for May 25-26, with competition set to begin on May 27 and run until May 30.
The Cowboys qualified for the championships last week by winning the NCAA Central Regional in Manhattan, Kan. Down by four shots going into the final round, the Cowboys erased the deficit on Saturday by posting a six-under-par total of 282. OSUs 54-hole team score of 856, eight-under, came in five shots clear of second-place Illinois.
Junior Hunter Mahan led the way individually for the Cowboys, firing a final-round 68 to finish tied for fifth and earn his fourth consecutive top-five finish. The McKinney, Texas native finished with a 210, six-under total to extend his school record for consecutive tournaments below par to nine.
