Texas Tech Buries Oklahoma State 8-2

LUBBOCK, Texas Texas Tech knocked Oklahoma State starter Joe Weaver out of the game after the second inning and Tech starter Dusty Buck settled in and defeated the Cowboys 8-2 in Saturday night Big 12 baseball action at Dan Law Field in Lubbock, Texas.
Buck went the distance after giving up two first inning runs, but did not allow OSU to touch the plate after that and improved his season record to 5-3.
Joe Weaver suffered the loss in his fifth straight start after giving up five runs over the first two innings and fell to 3-7 on the season.
Daniel Rew pitched a career high six innings of relief in his first game back from being suspended.
Christian Colonel was a thorn in the side for the Cowboys going 4 for 5.
OSU will be the sixth seed in the Big 12 with the loss and fell to 31-22 overall and 13-13 in the Big 12, while Tech is still fighting to make the Big 12 Tournament and improved to 30-24 and 8-17 in conference action.
The Red Raiders responded with three runs in the home half of the first to take the lead. Josh Haney and Scooter Jordan got things started with an infield single and a chopper over the head of first baseman Urick. Colonel doubled home Haney and Jordan scored on an RBI groundout by Travis McElroy. T.J. Bruce singled home Colonel for Techs third run in the inning.
Tech added two more runs in the bottom of the second on a two-run single by
Cooper Fouts led off Techs half of the fourth with a double.
The Red Raiders added an in the seventh on an RBI triple by Doug Beck.
