Baseball Wins Impressively

The Cowboys erupted in the third inning with eight runs. Josh Holliday, had an RBI single before Marc Fournier blasted a two-run shot over the center field fence. The inning continued with Kevin Lucas singling in Trent Kitsch and Tony Roossien. The Pokes sent 13 batters to the plate and Holliday had two hits and an RBI in the inning. Kitsch made his first start of the season as the designated hitter by going 3-for-4, with two runs, and an RBI.
Oklahoma State collected a run in the fourth with Lucas hitting a double that easily scored Kitsch.
Jim Bo McAuliff lit the scoreboard in the runs category with a two-run home run in the fifth inning. It was his second of the season.
In the seventh, the Leathernecks combined for two runs off of four hits in the inning, sparked by Ryan Koller hitting a double in the right field gap. Then in the top of the eighth, WIU rallied three runs off two hits and an error to close the Cowboys' lead to 12-7.
In the bottom of the eighth, the Pokes took control by scoring seven runs off four hits. The inning was capped off with Marc Fournier thrashing a double off the fence scoring three in a bases loaded situation.
Fournier was 2-for-5 on the day with five RBIs, a double and a home run.
Oklahoma State will play Southwest Texas this Tuesday and Wednesday, April 14-15, both game times are set 7 p.m.
