Baseball Has 12-Game Winning Streak Snapped

Iowa State capitalized in the first inning on three hits that scored Aaron Runk and Jeff Duncan, the one and two hole hitters. Runk was 4-for-6 on the day with his sixth double of the season.
Oklahoma State would rally four runs in the fifth inning Billy Gasparino hitting a two RBI base hit, and Tony Lucca blasting an RBI double.
In the seventh, Iowa State exploded with seven runs on five hits. In the inning, Matt McDonough roped a grand slam home run that broke the game open for the Cyclones. McDonough had five RBIs on the day. Two batters later, Bill Uelman added to the barrage with a two run home run that put the Cyclones on top 9-4.
OSU would cut into the lead in the seventh with Lucca and Josh Holliday hitting back-to-back home runs. Steve Hill would also add a run in the eighth with a solo home run, his third of the season.
Iowa State would place run away with the game in the top of the ninth with six runs off six hits and an error. The inning was highlighted by a Shawn Leimbek double. Leimbek was 3-for-4 on the day with four RBIs.
Oklahoma State will play Nebraska this weekend in Big 12 Conference action. April 24, 25 and 26 are the dates and play will begin Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 6 p.m., and on Sunday at 2 p.m.
