Jaramillo continued is hot hitting by adding a second homerun in the fifth inning. He finished 3-4 with two home runs and five RBIs.
Scott Baker mystified the Kansas State hitters. Baker fanned a career high 11 hitters and gave up just three hits over eight innings of work to improve to 7-3 on the season. Jim Ripley took the loss and fell to 2-3 on the season.
OSU improved to 19-9 and 5-2 in the Big 12, while KSU dropped to 10-17 and 0-7 in conference play.
The Cowboys broke open the game with five runs in the third inning. Ripley walked the bases loaded and Josh Fields drove in a run with a single to right. Jaramillo cleared the bases with a double to left center and scored when Mario Matulich's grounder went under the glove of shortstop Brett Williams.
Kansas State scored their only run off Baker in the bottom of the third when Ryan Baldwin hit a sacrifice fly to center.
OSU added three runs in the sixth when Jose Virgil singled through a drawn in infield to score Kenny Hansley. Fields followed with an RBI groundout off of new pitcher Allan Woodward. John Urick plated Virgil on a single up the middle to make the score 10-1.
The Cowboys will look to win their third consecutive Big 12 series when they take on Kansas State tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
