Von Tungeln will see action at a variety of positions, taking advantage of his solid defensive skills.
2002: Batted .200 with two homers and six RBIs in 31 games ... made eight starts but was primarily used as the Cowboys emergency catcher ... threw out five men trying to steal against him ... best offensive game was a 2-for-3 outing against Prairie View A&M (2/11) with two RBIs and three runs scored ... hit a two run homer in his only at-bat against Missouri (5/5).
2000-2001: Played the 2001 season at Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City, Kan. ... batted .435 with four homers and 48 RBIs in leading the team to the JUCO world series ... picked as a third team All-American ... was named the Jayhawk East Conference MVP ... also picked up all-conference and all-region honors ... was an all-star for the Rochester Honkers in the Northwoods League over the summer ... spent the 2000 season at the University of Oklahoma where he played in six games as a freshman and hit .600 with three RBIs.
HIGH SCHOOL: Named the ProLine Oklahoma Player of the Year as a senior at Putnam City West ... earned all-state and all-city honors as a catcher/shortstop/pitcher under Coach Craig Troxell ... also lettered two seasons in football and one season in basketball.
PERSONAL: Likes to listen to music and work on his truck in his spare time ... a graphic design major ... son of Steve and Susan Von Tungeln ... has a brother, Chad and a sister, Megan ... born on July 7, 1981 ... career goal is to be a head coach at a junior college.
