2002: In his first full season in the starting lineup, Sanders notched a 24-12 record. Sanders started the year winning 12 of his first 13 matches, with the only setback coming against Jared Lawrence of MInnesota. Sanders closed out the regular season winning his last four matches. Sanders went 4-1 in conferece with two of his wins coming against OUs eventual NCAA runner-up Jared Frayer.
2001: Notched an 11-3 overall record last season, with a 6-3 mark in dual action.
2000: Wrestled in two duals for the Cowboys, going 1-1, and compiled a 20-4 mark while wrestling in tournaments. He made his first start against Missouri last season beating the Tigers Jeremy Spates 6-5 in the Cowboys 34-3 win. Sanders also wrestled at the Reno Tournament of Champions, finishing third and going 5-1. Wrestling in open tournaments for the Pokes, Sanders won the Fort Hays State Open, and finished second at both the Oklahoma Open and the Cliff Keen Open.
1999: Sanders redshirted during the 1999 campaign while wrestling in open tournaments for the Cowboys. He went 11-3 and posted two falls. He won the Central Missouri Open and was named outstanding wrestler while wrestling at 149. He also won the Missouri Valley Open at 149 and placed third in the 141-pound weight class at the Oklahoma Open. He also wrestled in the FILA Junior Men's National Championships over the summer in Colorado Springs, Colo., placing sixth.
High School: He posted an 126-10 record in high school. He was a state champion once and a two-time state runner-up. He was also named as a high school All-American. Was a member of a powerhouse El Reno team.
Personal: Jerrod is the son of Karon and Herbert Sanders. He has one brother, Herbert. He is majoring in business at Oklahoma State. He enjoys lifting weights and playing video games.
