FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Competing in sunshine and blue skies, the OSU women's track and field team had an impeccable showing at the John McDonnell Track and Field Invitational Saturday, April 12.
Leading the Cowgirl Posse was Adrienne Crenshaw. Adrienne hopped to a first place finish, stepped to a new OSU school record and jumped past the regional qualifying triple jump mark. The regional track and field meet will be contested in Lincoln, Neb. on May 29-30. "I had a great week academically and a great week of training so I knew everything would be just ducky", said Crenshaw. Paula Ogunbanjo took the number four spot in the long jump and in doing so also recorded a personal best. Paula also placed third in the triple jump. She is only inches away from qualifying for the regional meet in both of the horizontal jumping events. Rounding out the competition, Melissa Ndubilo, on her last jump, went from ninth place to fifth place.
Delisa McClain and Halee Prickett, both recording personal best, placed third and seventh in the hammer throw. Prickett also placed third in the shot put.
"Coach Kim is doing a fine job with the jumpers and throwers", said Coach Peppie Whitaker. The Cowgirls will be in action again on April 19-20 at the Pomona Pitzer meet and at the Mt. SAC relays in Southern California.
