Oklahoma State Defeats Missouri 8-5

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Shortstop Rob Watson went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Oklahoma State to an 8-5 win over Missouri in baseball action Friday night at Simmons Field.
OSU won its sixth straight game over Mizzou to improve to 31-15 on the year and 9-9 in the Big 12. The Tigers fell to 23-22 on the year and 9-12 in conference action.
The Cowboys took advantage of six walks by Missouri starter Garrett Broshuis in 3.1 innings to score three runs in the second and four in the third. The Pokes scored their first run on a fielding error by Tiger third baseman Luke Cassis with the bases loaded and then plated two more on bases-loaded walks to take a 3-0 lead.
The Tigers rallied for two runs in the bottom of the third on a sacrifice fly by leftfielder WT Hoover and a RBI double by Cody Ehlers to cut the lead to 3-2.
The Pokes broke it open in the fourth, scoring four runs in the stanza to take a 7-2 lead. Centerfielder Jeff Salazar and second baseman Nebasett Brown both had two-run singles to account for the OSU runs.
Missouri took advantage of some control problems by Cowboy starter Scott Baker to score two runs in the sixth to cut the lead to 7-4. Pinch-hitter Ryan Rallo was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and centerfielder Jayce Tingler followed him with a walk to account for the runs.
Baker allowed four runs on seven hits in six innings with five strikeouts and three walks to improve to 6-1 on the season.
OSU made it 8-4 in the eight on a RBI single by Daylon Monette. The Tigers added a run in the ninth on a RBI single by Ehlers but shortstop Jody Roughton flied out deep to rightfield to end the game.
The teams will be back in action Saturday at 2 p.m. Junior righthander Chris Reilly will get the start on the mound for Oklahoma State while Missouri will throw freshman righty Justin James.
