OSU Track Has Two Named to the Academic All-District VI First Team

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's Siri Alfheim and Ben Lake were named to the Verizon Academic All-District VI First Team for their accomplishments on the track and in the classroom for the 2001-02 school year as selected by CoSIDA.
Alfheim is a graduate student haling from Kopervik, Norway. She has a 3.625 grade point average while working on a degree in occupational and adult education.
Alfheim was Big 12 Newcomer of the Year during cross country season and she won the individual regional title. She was crowned the individual national champion in the 5,000-meter run during the indoor season and finished third in the 5k at the Big 12 outdoor meet. Alfheim got the nod to compete at the 2002 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Baton Rouge, La. May 29-Jun. 2.
Lake, a junior from Sapulpa, Okla., maintained a 3.75 gpa, while majoring in mechanical engineering.
Lake was a part of the relay team that set the school record twice this season in the 4x1 mile relay and he owns the second best time on the team in the 5,000-meter run. He finished 11th at regionals in cross country in the fall and was 12th in the Big 12.
