OSU Weathers the Storm, Woolhouse Finishes Fourth
May 17, 2002 | Track O
Junior Jason Woolhouse, sophomore Scott Rantall, junior Gregory Rouault and junior Trey Vernon ran despite the rain and cold conditions, which delayed the start of the meet a couple of hours. The Cowboys scored five points in the event with Woolhouse finishing fourth with a time of 30 minutes, 14.13 seconds. Rouault was ninth, while Rantall finished 15th. Vernon led in the race early, but pulled out and did not finish. Mike Mwangong of Iowa State won the race with a time of 29:47.26.
The Cowboys are tied for sixth place in the championships after the first day of competition.
Junior Kristina Klos and sophomores Catherine Clifford and Sharalee Sparks started the 10k for the Cowgirls. The Cowgirls failed to score in the race. Baylor had the top two individuals who led from lap one in Debbie Thornhill and Kara Newton. Sparks, Clifford and Klos finished 19th, 20th and 21st, respectively.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will both continue competition in the second day of the meet tomorrow.
