STILLWATER, Okla. - Siri Alfheim and Valentina Medina have both qualified for the NCAA Championships to be held on March 8-9 at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark.
Alfheim, a graduate student from Kopervik, Norway, has ran qualifying times in two events. She ran an automatic time of 16 minutes, 15.05 seconds in the 5,000-meter run at the Big 12 Championships in Lincoln, Neb. on Feb. 22. The next day she ran a provisional time of 9:27.22 in the 3,000-meter run. Alfheim competed in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2001 in Eugene, Ore.
Medina, a freshman from San Cristobol, Venezuela, ran an automatic time of 4:42.24 in the mile run at the Big 12 Championships. Medina's time eclipsed the old meet record, but Sara Gorton of Colorado and Amy Mortimer of Kansas State had even faster times.
This will conclude the Cowgirls indoor portion of the season. They will begin the outdoor season the following week.
