Oklahoma State Completes Sweep Of Kansas With 10-2 Win

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State completed its series sweep of Kansas with a 10-2 win in Big 12 baseball action Sunday afternoon at Reynolds Stadium.
The Cowboys won their fifth straight game and improved to 20-7 on the year and 6-3 in conference while the Jayhawks fell to 12-12 and 1-9 in league play.
Junior Chris Reilly (5-0) scattered 10 hits through seven innings to pick up his team-leading fifth win of the year. The right hander allowed two runs, both coming in the first inning on a two-run homer by KU third baseman Ryan Klocksien, while striking out two to move to 15-1 in his three-year collegiate career.
Second baseman Nebasett Brown led the Pokes at the plate with a 4-for-5 afternoon and four runs scored.
OSU trailed Kansas 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth when the Cowboy offense erupted and scored three runs on four hits off of Jayhawk starter Jake Wright. Third baseman Paul Powell and designated hitter Zach Cates had RBI singles in the inning to lead the way.
Oklahoma State went on to score seven runs in the next four innings to put the game away. Cates went 3-for-4 with a RBI and rightfielder Daylon Monette went 2-for-4 with three RBIs to help lead the way.
Centerfielder Lance Hayes, leftfielder Ryan Baty and designated hitter Casey Spanish led KU with two hits apiece. Wright took the loss on the mound to drop to 2-2 on the year. He gave up nine runs, five earned in 6.1 innings of work while allowing 11 hits and three walks.
The Cowboys will close out their six-game homestand this Tuesday when Arkansas State comes to town for a 3 p.m. tilt.
