Cowboys To Face Louisville In Midweek Action

Oklahoma State will step out of conference play with a two-game series against Louisville on Tuesday and Wednesday. Game times for both contests are set for 3 p.m., weather permitting.
Louisville
Louisville is 12-3 on the year after sweeping Memphis in their Conference USA opener over the weekend. The Cardinals return six starters from last year's club which finished 32-29 and sixth in C-USA.
Head coach Lelo Prado is in his seventh year at Louisville and is 171-180-1 in that span.
Designated hitter Mark Jurich leads the team with a .538 batting average in 11 games with six homers and 19 RBIs. The team is batting at a .318 clip with 24 homers in 15 games.
Scheduled to pitch for Louisville in the two-game series are righthanders Scott Barber ad Mike Eilers. Barber is 1-1 on the season with a 7.04 ERA in four appearances. Eilers is 1-0 with a 4.91 ERA in five games this season.
The Series
Tuesday's contest will be the first time the two teams have met on the baseball diamond.
On The Mound
Righthanders Chris Reilly and Mike Miller are the probable starters for Tuesday and Wednesday's games.
Reilly is 2-0 on the year with a 2.77 ERA and is coming off a solid outing in the Pokes win over UT-Arlington last Tuesday. The junior allowed just one run on three hits in six innings of work while striking out six and walking two.
Miller is 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA on the season and last pitched in relief against UT A last Tuesday. The Tulsa native allowed one run on three hits in an inning of work while striking out one.
Oklahoma State's Road to 2000
Oklahoma State is two victories away from reaching 2000 wins in the school's storied baseball history. With 12 wins this season, OSU is now 1,998-961-4 all-time and its .675 winning percentage is second among Big 12 schools (Texas- .761).
The Polls
The Cowboys are ranked No. 20 in the Baseball Weekly/ESPN Coaches Poll and No. 24 in Collegiate Baseball this week. OSU is one of six Big 12 teams ranked in the Top 30 in the country by the various polls. The highest ranking Big 12 team in any of the polls is Baylor at No. 8 by Baseball America.
